Improvements in health are essential for both poverty reduction and
economics. The Millennium Development Goals aim to substantially
reduce the burden of death and disease from child illness,
reproductive ill-health and communicable diseases by 2015. However,
many populations still have limited access to health care and
essential health services will to be scaled up if the MDG targets
are to be met.
